So ... it doesn't look like the rain has stopped... at all. Just got worse. Record rains, and no end in sight. Record rain here; record heat in the U.S. If this isn't a sign of global warming, then I don't know WHAT is!!

We finally got to the concert today, as Thursday was the "official" start of the festival weekend. Evidently it started raining early Wednesday night ... and didn't stop for hours. In fact, I think it's STILL pouring, and it's now 2:48 AM Friday morning. Soren and I walked (or, should I say SWAM, as the mud river was now up to our knees), back to our tent today and met up with the rest of his friends who've been there all week. They all just looked so miserable, and were quite ready for some music to lift their spirits. I must say, I've never seen a group of thousands so determined to have a good time!

We saw a bit of the Canadian band Arcade Fire, as it was under a huge tent, but the place was so dang crowded I really couldn't see anything. After about 30 minutes of that, we all decided to head back to the main stage (where the big headliners play), and grab some food / beers. Some of the food tents had a little bit of shelter, so another 30 minutes of that provided some relief from the storm. By this point, the whole situation seemed so insane we had to press on. The Killers started their set at 8, and we prepared to wade into the crowd (literally) to watch.

Luckily, I found the red umbrella in my backpack that Soren and I had picked up in Oslo on our last rainy voyage, so that helped provide some "shelter" if at least for my face. I ended up carrying that thing sideways, though, since the rain no longer seemed to fall direclty from the sky but came more from the east.

Finally, after a few forced laughs and some "dancing" in the mud, we headed back to our tents to check out the situation. The festival crew had now started dumping hay into the mud-lake to help keep it a bit more under control, but everything was so wet it was impossible to sit anywhere else but inside of the tents. As I was still feeling a bit sick, Soren and I decided we'd given it our best shot and turned towards home Fortunately, the car wasn't parked too far from our campsite, so we trudged back through the mud.

Ironically, the rain stopped just as we pulled into Copenhagen, but somehow continued to terrorize Roskilde merely 30 minutes away.

So - here we are back at home. We're going to see how the weather is tomorrow before deciding if we should head back or not. All of our stuff is still in the tent (hopefullly it hasn't floated away by now!), and we still have one more 8 hour shift of work late Sunday night. I wonder what they'll have us do...

Back to the mud...
This is how we feel inside.
Poor Casper. His jacket was soaked, and wouldn't zip shut! Can't even light a cigarette in this weather!!
Top '0 the morning to ya!

Crossing the mud river to the festival venue.
Quick pic in the rain!!
Waiting out the storm in a food tent ... doesn't look like it's clearing up much. (Note Kristin's attractive hair do.)
Looks like fun, eh?
Here's how you improve the mood. Skål!
The Killers ... in the rain.
Keeping "dry."
