Jutland Trip - Pink Floyd and H.C. Anderson

Søren's parents invited us to join them for a road trip to Jutland in late August to see a Pink Floyd cover band. A Danish, Pink Floyd cover band!?! How could we say no?! :)

Saturday morning, we headed west and stopped in Odense for a little lunch and the Flower Festival. Here we are enjoying sandwiches near the Odense monastery.
After lunch, we wandered around a bit and came across some sort of Italian sports car convention. Sweet, sweet red Alfa Romeos... mmm....
The past few weeks have been quite the Hans Christian Anderson tour for me. I saw his grave in Copenhagen; where he went to school as a young man in Helsingør; and now Odense - the city where he was born. The Odense Flower Festival included live performances of some of his more famous stories...
Two little Danish girls mesmerized by the Princess and the Pea...
The Little Mermaid waves to the crowd - yes, that's a giant flower swan behind her.
Thumbellina and a giant flower butterfly...
Anybody home?!?
Hans Christian Anderson's childhood home.
After lunch, we packed back into the car and headed off for Jutland, the Danish peninsula and the largest part of Denmark. Waiting for the concert to begin...
Pink Floyd, The Wall.
Is There Anybody Out There?
Children take the stage for We Don't Need No Education...
Another Brick In The Wall.

One of the performers had this AWESOME handlebar mustache. We tried to get a shot of it here, complete with crazy wig. An unbelievable show! So good!!
Søren's parents had planned to continue their trip around Jutland by bike; here Søren helps out by taking the bikes off the back of the car. From here we planned to take the car by ferry from Århus, the second largest city in Denmark, back to Copenhagen.
Before we left, we stopped at Den Gammle By, or The Old City in Århus. Den Gammle By is completely dedicated to old Denmark. Here they've moved and restored old buildings from throughout the country for visitors to see what a Danish city might have looked like hundreds of years ago.
Old fashioned swings.

Awesome thatched roof!!

Only a royal Danish flag has the split in it. This shop might have provided goods for the royal family at one time...

Bachelor / Bachelorette Parties

So, I was not only lucky enough to have been invited to Søren's sister Mette's wedding this summer, but I also attended her bachelorette party! n Denmark, these parties go all day long and are nearly always a surprise for the bride / groom. So these were long days for Søren and I ... but so much fun!!

Below are a few pictures from Anders' party one week before Mette's, (courtesy of Søren), and Mette's following:

Søren and Anders play some beer croquet.
... and the penalty for losing.
Game over. Time to break stuff!
Anders loves his beer.
Screw the cups.
A little Foozball...
More beer.
Mette's bachelorette party started off with a series of tasks she must pass successfully in order to be allowed a shower! Here she gets friendly with a snake.
At the beach, we all had to pop a balloon with a dart while on our bellies. With the wind factor, passing joggers and a number of beers ... (and yes, this is still all before noon), this was not an easy task.
This next task was team skiing up the hill. Let's just say that this mission did not end successfully. :)
Now it's "Shoot the empty beer cans down with a water gun." Sounds easier than it was... especially when your water gun doesn't work!! Here we see Mette hard at work while Kristin curses her water gun in multiple languages...
Time to hike up a slippery tarp ... this was also one of the last tasks of the afternoon, and not easy to do even when you're entirely sober!
After Mette "won" her bath, the rest of the group ate lunch at the Mørch house.
After lunch, we all headed back into the city where Mette was interviewed by a fake talk show host about her plans for the upcoming marriage. This, of course, was a complete suprise ... and all captured on video. While waiting for the talkshow to begin, Mette and Christina "horse around" with some random props...
After the talkshow and dinner, we headed over to Sam's Bar for a little Danish karaoke. Yes, I sang at one point too ... though I had no clue what I was saying!! :)
